North South Extension Moving Ahead

Plans are moving ahead on the final construction phase that will allow motorists to travel north from I-220 to Crouch Rd. and connect with LA Hwy. 162, Bossier Parish Administrator Butch Ford told parish police jury members Wednesday.

Plans are moving ahead on the final construction phase that will allow motorists to travel north from I-220 to Crouch Rd. and connect with LA Hwy. 162, Bossier Parish Administrator Butch Ford told parish police jury members Wednesday.

Ford said the clearing and grubbing project has been completed from the Swan Lake Rd. bridge over Flat River to Crouch Rd. and that AEP should be finished relocating power lines hopefully by May. One other project that will lower a gas pipeline should also be completed before summer.

“We hope to let (for bids) the project in April and we’re asking for a 24-month calendar date completion. This is a $20 million job. We hope we can begin working on it by June,” he said.

Ford said the police jury has $5 million in surplus and the remainder of the $20 million will be borrowed through the state bond commission.

“We made the final payment on the Arthur Ray Teague project last year so that means we have $800 to $900 thousand dollars that is bondable,” he said. “We can do this.”
