Police Jury Meeting Notes-March 6, 2024

Posted: Mar 7, 2024, 4:27 PM

Midway through the meeting, President Phillip Rodgers presented Mr. John Fox, 2022 Airline High School graduate, with a resolution for creating twenty hand-drawn historical images of Bossier City. After digitizing the images, he produced a coloring book to distribute throughout all Bossier Parish Libraries branches.

During the committee meetings reports, Policy and Procedures Chairman Doug Rimmer gave the jurors a report on his selection as the 3rd Vice President on the board of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana (PJAL). Mr. Rimmer says this new appointment will help him make decisions that will benefit the other juries in the state but in particular Bossier Parish. Rimmer stated that there are certain priorities that need to be addressed in PJAL, such as the Severance Tax from oil and gas production. “It is important to ensure that these funds are not capped. Additionally, some of the funds generated locally should be used to support the development of Bossier.” Rimmer has been appointed as a board member for three years. He will serve as 3rd, 2nd, and 1st Vice President of PJAL before assuming the role of President.

Parish Administrator Butch Ford, along with Bossier Parish Library Director Felesha Sweeney, told the jurors that the new Central Library will open on Monday, March 11. The grand opening of the library is scheduled for April 16. Ford said there is also a grand opening of the new Bossier Parish EMS station in Haughton set for March 15.
