Making sure all properties in Bossier Parish meet health and public safety regulations is the responsibility of the parish’s Property Standards department.
Property Standards Investigator David Ghormley responds to citizens’ complaints, the measure used to institute an investigation into the status of properties, and reports his findings to Police Jury for action. Public health and safety are primary considerations in property inspections.
Response to complaints isn’t confined just to dwellings, but can also be the basis of looking into the condition of the property. In some cases, abandoned equipment, vehicles, appliances and other items littering a property can be cause for inspection and reports.
Owners of the property in question are given the opportunity to make necessary repairs or clean-up before the Police Jury takes action. Owners may appear before the Police Jury to answer complaints.
