SUMMARY
Performs various manual and/or unskilled tasks as required for construction or maintenance operations and operate a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities; perform a variety of skilled tasks in the building, maintenance of streets, bridges and drainage systems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training as an Operator 5 with the Bossier Parish Highway Department or equivalent experience acquired elsewhere.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Random drug testing is conducted on all Highway employees
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Incumbent must possess a valid State Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Valid CDL license within a reasonable time upon appointment.
