Job Description
Job Title: Administrative Accounting Assistant
Department: Consolidated Water and Sewer District 1/Village
Reports To: Parish Treasurer and Director of Public Utilities
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: 14

SUMMARY
This position is designed to serve as the accounting support for the Consolidated Water and Sewer District 1 and after the initial training period, will be expected to be familiar with all aspects of accounting as relates to this department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DISCLAIMER:

  • Review and reconcile daily transaction with general ledger
  • Processes Accounts Payable
  • Process and Audit Deposits
  • Reconcile month ending reports
  • Complies with governmental reporting requirements
  • Prepares external accounting reports for police jury, state and federal agencies as required
  • Reconcile Monthly Bank Statements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Five years accounting experience or Accounting Degree with minimum of two (2) years work experience in related field. Must be able to use ten-key by touch and possess familiarity with various accounting systems. Must be able to handle highly confidential information.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms,
quadratic equations, and permutations. Working knowledge of accounting theories.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution,
determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
The incumbent must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license in order to make bank deposits for Consolidated Waterworks Sewerage District1.
