Proper Waste Disposal

Paints, solvents, adhesives, dusts, sediments, pesticides and household toxins commonly associated with home repair and remodeling activities often make their way into the Bossier Parish storm drain system and do not get treated before reaching the Red River and its tributary streams. These wastes make our waters unhealthy and unsafe for people and wildlife.

Follow these practices to help prevent stormwater pollution.

Household Hazardous Waste

Leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients are considered to be "household hazardous waste" or "HHW." Products, such as paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, and pesticides that contain potentially hazardous ingredients require special care when you dispose of them

Shreveport Green facilitates 8 household hazardous waste picks per year.   All Bossier Parish citizens can dispose of the household hazardous waste at these events.

For a list of acceptable items that will be accepted, the date of the next event, and more details please visit the following website.
