Pursuant to La. R.S. 29:727, the President of the Bossier Parish Police Jury has hereby declared a State of Emergency due to an emergency situation as a result of forecasted winter weather. In accordance with said declaration, the Bossier Parish Courthouse will be closed effective Tuesday, February 16, 2021, and Wednesday, February 17, 2021. A notice will be posted on the police jury’s website at www.bossierparishla.gov should the need arise for the courthouse to be closed on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

Pursuant to La. R.S. 29:727, the President of the Bossier Parish Police Jury has hereby declared a State of Emergency due to an emergency situation as a result of forecasted wintery weather. In accordance with said declaration, the Bossier Parish Police Jury has cancelled the February 17, 2021, Finance and Regular police jury meetings, as well as any other meetings and committee meetings that may have been scheduled for February 17, 2021. All items that were scheduled for the February 17, 2021, meetings will be rescheduled for March 3, 2021, including board meetings and committee meetings, times to be determined at a later date.

Bulk of anticipated precipitation should occur Sunday night into Monday morning with two to four inches expected, including sleet and snow for Sunday through Monday only. Accumulation amounts are being reevaluated and the NWS said those could be increased with the accumulations possible on Wednesday and Thursday.

Despite several days of rainfall in Bossier Parish and areas to the north that bring additional water into the area’s streams and bayous, no serious problems with high water have occurred, according to Ian Snellgrove, Director of the Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

Bossier Parish’s first snowfall of 2021 began shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 10), depositing amounts ranging from one to three inches. Snowfall ended across the area early Monday morning, according to weather reports.

Keep Bossier Beautiful volunteers removed almost 10,000 cigarette butts from five high traffic intersections in Bossier Parish near the vicinity of Lamar digital billboards. The educational media blitz “Keep Your Butts in Your Pants” was displayed for 30 days and 500 free pocket ashtrays were distributed to smokers.
