Urgent Notice: Bossier City-Parish MPC Issues Warning on Fraudulent Invoices

Posted: Oct 11, 2024, 2:13 PM

Friday, October 11, 2024—The Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) is alerting all residents, property owners, and applicants to be cautious of fraudulent invoices sent by unauthorized agencies.

In the scam, the victim receives a fake invoice, purportedly from “The City of Bossier City Planning Commission,” along with a demand for payment to process an application. To make the correspondence look legitimate, the perpetrators have collected correct information from public sources, including the names of Bossier City employees and the names and case numbers of active applications. These types of correspondence are from malicious third parties attempting to defraud individuals and businesses.

Residents, property owners, and applicants are advised that the MPC does not mail or email PDF invoices for pending applications. Anyone who has received one of these fraudulent invoices is advised to contact the Bossier City Police Department or the Bossier Sheriff’s Department.

What to look for:

Requests for payment from unfamiliar or unverified agencies. Suspicious email addresses, incorrect spelling, and PDF attachments.
