Annie Gilmer, Bossier Parish Engagement Librarian, operates the Bossier Parish Library Homebound delivery service, which brings the library to patrons who cannot make it out to the library on their own.
Once a month, she delivers books, DVDs, audiobooks, and e-books on tablets for patrons. Ms. Gilmer stops at local residences, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities but hopes to expand the service parish-wide.
“We have a significant portion of the community who can’t easily get around. We don’t have public transportation that goes everywhere, so if you don’t have a reliable car, or if you’ve gotten to that point in life where you shouldn’t be driving anymore, why not make it easier to bring you entertainment and make life a little bit better," said Annie Gilmer, Community Engagement Librarian,
