At the beginning of the meeting, District 12 Juror Keith Sutton presented Parkway High School’s Lady Panthers Basketball Team with a resolution congratulating them on their second LHSAA Non-Select Division 1 State Basketball Championship on March 2, 2024.
Chloe Larry scored 20 points, and Dakota Howard scored 18 in the championship game against the #2 ranked Denham Springs Yellow Jackets.
A crucial moment in the team's journey to the championship occurred during the state semi-final game. Senior Chloe Larry made a half-court shot at the buzzer in overtime, leading to a 64-63 victory over the top-ranked Walker Wildcats. This sent the underdog Lady Panthers to their third trip to the LHSAA Non-Select Division 1 State Championship, which they ultimately won. This was also the team’s second state title.
