Bossier Parish Celebrates National County/Parish Government Month

Posted: Apr 3, 2024, 9:42 AM

The Bossier Parish Police Jury is celebrating National County/Parish Government Month (NCGM), a time to spotlight our parish government's critical work, including maintaining the infrastructure, safety, public health, and elections.

The theme for this year’s celebration of NCGM is ForwardTogether. ForwardTogether is about connecting, inspiring, and leading pillars of county government that build trust and drive towards solutions.

"ForwardTogether" stands on three pillars:

  1. Building connections and peer support
  2. Encouraging community participation
  3. Fostering partnerships across government levels

Butch Ford, Parish Administrator, commended the NACo organization for their ability to bring people together across parish and county lines through their events and programs.

“As a member, it is fascinating when you find out that we all share the same problems and goals as governmental organizations,” said Ford. “We attend two conferences annually, gaining valuable insights from other parish leaders to improve our practices here in Bossier Parish.”

Since 1991, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has encouraged counties and parishes across the country to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of counties/parishes.

"We have a website, and we have our meetings on Facebook. We're trying every avenue to get more people engaged in government so they can see exactly what we do for the citizens of Bossier Parish," Ford said.

Residents are encouraged to stay involved and informed by attending the Bossier Parish Police Jury meetings in person or viewing them on our Facebook page.
