Contractors are beginning to drive pilings on the future bridge over Cypress Bayou, part of the north/south corridor project connecting I-220 at Swan Lake Rd. to LA Hwy. 162 via Crouch Rd.
Initial phase of the work is to drive a monitor pile, followed by the remaining supports for the new structure. Officials say pile driving should be pretty constant over the next few months.
Construction on the $20.8 million northern section, running from the Flat River bridge on Swan Lake Rd. to Crouch Rd., is expected to take about two years to complete.
