Posted: Apr 25, 2022, 3:17 PM

The following summary of results from Saturday's Operation Clean Sweep was provided by Lynn Bryan, Executive Director, Keep Bossier Beautiful.

We are excited to share the results from Operation Clean Sweep and the power of working together. Leaders and community members worked for the betterment of our parish on a beautiful Saturday morning to clean up our community during Love the Boot week.

There were 755 registered volunteers who pitched in to pick up trash in ditches and on roadways. New this year, 74 residents took advantage of the large item drop-off provided by the City of Bossier and the Bossier Parish Police Jury. A grand total of 27,680 pounds of trash and junk removed, and 7,860 pounds of metal that will be recycled.

More than 600 volunteers gathered at the Bossier Sheriff's Office Viking Drive Substation to enjoy 953 pounds of boiled crawfish provided by Louisiana Seafood and prepared by Shane’s Seafood and BBQ. The Rotary of Bossier City prepared 150 hamburgers and hotdogs.

Volunteers came from a variety of areas with the largest number, 183, noted affiliations with schools, followed by 170 volunteers affiliated with civic groups. The largest group of volunteers represented by a single group was Friends of South Bossier, followed by Airmen Leadership School.
