LA Hwy 3 Lane Closures

Posted: Mar 24, 2022, 6:46 PM

Work is scheduled to begin Friday, March 25 on a project to increase volume for turn lanes off LA Hwy. 3 (Benton Rd.) onto I-220, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Motorists using the highway are advised that beginning at 9 a.m. Friday and continuing through Monday, March 28 at 6 a.m., LA 3 northbound left turn lane to westbound I-220 will be closed to allow patching in the southbound left lane at the westbound entrance ramp to I-220.

Additionally, the LA Hwy. 3 southbound left lane will be closed from Hospital Drive to I-220.

Officials said the entire project, which is managed by the Bossier Police Jury, is anticipated to wrap up later this summer, weather permitting.

Jury members voted unanimously earlier this year to award the contract to Earnest Contracting for the turn lane extensions, a project designed to help improve north and south traffic flow through the area. Bossier Parish and the city of Bossier City will split the $741,000 project cost.

Traffic studies have shown roughly 30 percent of the driving population of Bossier Parish travels through the intersection, both north- and southbound, Monday through Friday mornings and afternoons.

District 6 Police Jury member Chris Marsiglia said the project hopefully will be finished before the state begins rehabilitation of I-20 through Bossier City.
