A pair of road and lane closures that will impact local motorists have been announced by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).
Beginning Monday, Feb. 28 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., the southbound outside lane of LA Hwy. 3 (Benton Rd.) will be closed from Melrose Ave. to Citizen Bank Dr. to allow a contractor to work on the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway tie-in to the Benton Rd.
This lane will be reopened each night by 7 p.m. and closure is expected to last two weeks.
Also, DOTD advises motorists that a ramp/lane closure has been scheduled for the ongoing construction of the new I-20/I-220 Barksdale Air Force Base interchange access project. On Saturday, March 5, I-220 eastbound to the I-20 eastbound ramp at the I-220 interchange will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This ramp closure is necessary for bridge construction activities over the ramp related to the ongoing construction of the new interchange. Closure is expected to last one day.
Intermittent lane closures and/or rolling road blocks will continue as necessary on both I-20 and I-220 eastbound and westbound as construction proceeds on the project. These will take place for approximately the next three months.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution through all construction areas and to watch for workers and equipment.
