February’s historic winter storm made life miserable for many in Bossier Parish and northwest Louisiana, but the combined snow/ice event has provided local and area agencies with a blueprint for any future event.
Members of the parish Unified Command, representing emergency response, law enforcement, National Guard and government agencies discussed the good and the bad of response to the unprecedented storm during an after incident meeting Monday.
“We’ve faced floods, hurricanes and tornadoes, but we’ve never had to deal with something of this magnitude,” Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington said. “But the cooperation between every department got us through.”
