First Responders Day at Cypress Black Bayou

Posted: Oct 22, 2020, 4:35 PM

Bossier Parish/City first responders – law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel – were honored Thursday with the inaugural “First Responders Appreciation Day” at Cypress Black Bayou marina.

A full complimentary lunch was served the large crowd of responders and plenty of door prizes were handed out. Prizes included a large number of gift cards, four shotguns and a four-wheeler.

Robert Berry, executive director of Cypress Black Bayou, was instrumental in organizing the event as way to show support for first responders.

“From everything that’s gone on this past year, it’s very important that we step up and back our first responders,” said Berry. “It’s about them.”

Berry was joined by Vicky Whitman (wife of Bossier City City Marshal Jim Whitman), Silver Star Smokehouse, Tubbs Hardware, Coburn’s Supply, and Zaxby’s to sponsor the event.
