Sligo Road Bridge Construction Starts

Posted: Aug 14, 2019, 6:06 AM

Contractors for the Bossier Parish Police Jury began Monday demolishing the bridge on Sligo Rd. spanning Foxskin Bayou to make way for a new structure. Sligo Rd. is closed roughly one mile west of its intersection with La. Hwy. 157.

Motorists travelling east on Sligo Rd. may detour around the construction work by taking Arkla Plant Rd. and turning east onto Davis Rd. at the intersection of the two highways. Those needing to go west on Sligo can take Davis Rd. at its intersection with La. Hwy. 157.

Bossier Parish Engineer Butch Ford said the project is being funded by a portion of the $20 million the police jury borrowed this year for special infrastructure projects including roads and bridges throughout the parish.

Ford said the new bridge will be concrete. Sligo Rd. will be closed for approximately six months.
