Census 2020 looking for workers

Posted: Oct 5, 2018, 3:36 PM

Uncle Sam is looking for a few good people. And, he’s ready to pay an attractive wage for individuals he can count on to count well.

Currently, the U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 census count. The Bureau is hiring for a variety of temporary jobs including census takers, recruiting assistants, office staff and supervisory staff. Applicants need only fill out one application to be considered for all openings.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number and be a United States Citizen. Job seekers must complete an online application that includes assessment questions about their education, work and other experience.

To apply, visit 2020census.gov/jobs. Jobs for the census offer competitive wages that are paid weekly. Plus, authorized expenses, such as mileage, are reimbursed for employees working in the field. Positions are available across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Pay rates vary according to location. In Bossier Parish, a census taker would make $13.50 per hour. Temporary positions could be a perfect fit to earn extra spending money because of the flexible hours.

An accurate count is very important. The census data is used to determine an area’s representation in Congress. The data also determines how funds are spent for roads, schools, hospitals and more.

Louisiana’s regional census office is in Atlanta, GA. Contact Atlanta.rcc.partnership@2020census.gov for additional information.
