Kingston Rd & Swan Lake Rd Update

05/28/2019

Memorial Day is the holiday that honors members of the armed services who gave the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedoms the United States offers its citizens.

It also signals the official first day of summer and families across the nation take to lakes, rivers, parks and back yards to enjoy a long weekend. While the day is a break from work for many, others find it’s a day to get ahead on important public projects.

Contractors for the Bossier Parish Police Jury spent Memorial Day getting ahead on a pair of projects. On Kingston Rd., a set of culverts beneath the roadway is being replaced to help improve drainage at the crossing of Willow Chute Bayou.

Kingston Rd. is closed just east of Kingston Plantation and west of St. Charles while construction is underway. Officials expect the project to be completed in approximately 30 days, weather permitting.

Memorial Day also saw contractors for the police jury kick off their reconstruction of the Flat River bridge on Swan Lake Rd. A new bridge is part of phase one of the north/south corridor that will extend Swan Lake north to Crouch Rd.

Swan Lake Rd. is closed from just north of the construction site and northward from its intersection with Duckwater Landing. Plans call for construction on the new bridge to be completed in August, if Mother Nature cooperates.
