Timber workshop scheduled in Homer


Landowners, foresters, loggers and others who deal in timber marketing will learn tips on best management practices at a free timber marketing workshop scheduled Friday, May 18 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Claiborne Parish Library in Homer.

Estimating the value of timber, understanding the process of selling timber and increasing awareness of forestland and timber taxes will be discussed. Hosts for the workshop include Trailblazer RC&D, Mudd & Holland Consulting Foresters and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Presentations will include forest markets by Tim Holland of Mudd & Holland, harvesting and best management practices from Dr. Rick Williams, state forester with the USDA NRCS and preparing to sell your timber from CPA Steve Koskie.
