Burn ban issued for Bossier Parish

Bossier Parish Police Jury President Bob Brotherton, acting on concerns expressed by fire chiefs of the parish rural fire districts, has issued a burn ban throughout the parish effective immediately.

Brotherton signed the emergency declaration for the ban Tuesday. A moderate drought has created abnormally dry conditions throughout the area and Bossier Parish joins other northwest Louisiana parishes in issuing the ban.

Bans are currently in effect in DeSoto and Webster parishes along with Marion and Cass counties in Texas and Howard and Hempstead counties in Arkansas.

During a declared emergency, all burning is prohibited including outdoor fires, pyrotechnics or use of any device that could emit sparks or airborne embers.

Information on lifting the burn ban will be transmitted immediately.
