Trailblazer plans free whitetail deer workshops

Trailblazer RC&D is conducting two free workshops on “Land Management for Whitetail Deer.” The first workshop will take place on Monday, October 16 at Haughton Town Hall (118 West McKinley Ave.) at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 17, the second workshop will be conducted in West Monroe at 6 p.m. in Willie’s Duck Diner, 125 Constitution Dr. Participants are asked to arrive around 4:45 p.m. and dine on your own with the Trailblazer project team and speakers. This will offer the chance to talk about deer hunting with fellow hunters and get a great meal before the workshop begins.

Workshop topics include aging deer on the hoof, fawn mortality, food plots, essential management tools and USDA-NRCS assistance.

Individuals planning to attend may pre-register by calling 318-255-3554. If no one is available at the time of your call please leave a message on the answering machine and state which workshop you’d like to attend or email Ellzey at

Sponsors and partners of the event include Enable Pipeline Partnership, Minden Farm & Garden, Diamond J Ranch, Mudd-Holland Forestry Consultants, Burnham Construction, Progressive Bank, Willie’s Duck Diner, the Bossier Parish Police Jury, the town of Haughton and USDA-NRCS.

If an accommodation to participate in either Trailblazer RC&D workshop is necessary, please contact Trailblazer at 318-255-3554 at least one week in advance of the workshop.
